Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math Science Programs at Boston University

The Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math Science Programs at Boston University are seeking applications for a part-time Latin teaching position for the summer of 2013. Latin classes meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from July 1st-July 29th. The position is for 4-5 sections. Each sections meets for 50-minutes/day each. Classes are kept at 15 students or less. Classes begin at 8am and end at 2pm Teachers are also responsible for supervising one study-hall per week from 3pm-5pm, attending staff meetings on Mondays, attending staff training, and the summer awards ceremony.

Educational requirements: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferable, in specific academic discipline or secondary education with certification or teaching experience in appropriate content area.

Required experience: Minimum 2 years teaching experience with high school students, strong teaching skills, demonstrated understanding of the needs of disadvantaged youth, ability to respond to student learning needs with innovative ideas and approaches to instruction, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Compensation: $23/hr. Teachers are compensated 0.5 hours of preparation time for each hour of instruction.
